The new VDI/VDE guideline 2180 was published in 2019. It substantiates the new international standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511, gives instructions on how to lawfully implement these standards and describes the current state of the art in safety technology. The emphases of these guidelines are the stages engineering, construction and operation within a safety life cycle and their integration into the safety management system.

The classification of PCT systems will be newly regulated: PCT monitoring systems will be integrated into basic process control systems. The subsequent practical consequences are explained in the course.

During the two-day seminar methods and tools for risk assessment and risk reduction, such as risk graph are presented and extended by means of case studies and group work.

Human factor and SIL calculation are also topics of this further education course.

Another aspect is themed “Making SIL calculations easy”; during the SIL day in June 2020, current special topics will be presented and discussed.
