General Terms and Conditions

Provision of Services

DECHEMA-Forschungsinstitut (hereinafter referred to as DFI) shall provide the services of which the nature and scope can be found in the course specifications. Should exceptional circumstances occur, DFI reserves the right to change speakers, the venue and the program schedule.

Registrations

Courses must be booked in writing (fax, surface mail, e-mail or via online form). Each registration becomes legally binding upon receipt and upon DFI’s written confirmation. Online registrations are made on an encrypted website, so that no one can access your data.

Should a course be overbooked you will be immediately informed in writing or by phone.

Closing date for registrations

Unless otherwise noted the closing date for registrations is 4 weeks prior to the start of the event. Depending on the capacity last minute registrations are possible.

Payment

Please transfer the attendance fee after receipt of the invoice to the indicated DFI account. Payment can also be made by credit card (Mastercard, Visa).

Cancellations

If a registration is cancelled up to two weeks before the start of the relevant course, the attendance fee is reimbursed less an administrative fee of 10%. If cancellation is made at a later date, a reimbursement is not possible.

Cancellations are only accepted in writing (i.e. by fax, surface mail or e-mail). The relevant cancellation date is the date of receipt.

A change of the speakers or of the venue as well as changes in the schedule of a program does not entitle the customer to cancel the contract.

If a participant does not attend the course or leaves before its end, the full attendance fee remains payable.

Substitute participants

We would be pleased to accept a substitute participant appointed by you. The substitute participant needs to be appointed by you in writing, which is free of charge. Any differences between attendance fees of members and non-members are either charged or credited to the participant.

Course documents

Each participant will be given the relevant course documents at the venue. The rights to the documents are held exclusively by DFI. Any further use of the documents requires written approval from DFI.

VAT

VAT is not applicable for our attendance fees.

Cancellation by the organizer

If a course has to be cancelled by DFI for unpredictable reasons, e.g. because of absence of a speaker, disruptions at the venue or too few participants, the participant will be informed immediately in writing, by phone or e-mail. The cancellation due to too few participants occurs no later than two weeks prior to the course. A refund for travel or accommodation costs as well as loss of working time is excluded, unless such costs occur due to grossly negligent or deliberate behavior of DFI. In the event of any disruption arising, DFI agrees to undertake all reasonable steps in order to contribute to rectification or containment of the disruption.

In any case, the general liability of DFI is limited to the reimbursement of the attendance fee which has already been paid. Participants are not entitled to further refunds against the organizer.

Copyright

Any event documents that are handed out are under copyright and are only intended for personal use. No permission is given for the reproduction, dissemination, processing or public presentation of any kind, and such permission must be obtained from DFI in writing. Neither are participants permitted to make sound or video recordings of the event.

DFI is entitled to document its events by producing video and sound recordings of all kinds, to propagate or publish all photographic, video and film recordings as well as any technical reproductions arising from the contractual relationship, which DFI may do for its own promotional or editorial purposes, without geographical or material restrictions and without any restrictions in time.
