Wolfram Fürbeth honoured with Honorary Fellow Award of the EFC

2023-08-29 |

During the opening ceremony of this year's EUROCORR in Brussels, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfram Fürbeth, Team Leader Electrolytic Corrosion and Head of the DECHEMA Corrosion Centre, was awarded the Honorary Fellow Award of the European Federation of Corrosion (EFC) on 28 August 2023.

In line with the special nature of this award, the certificate recognises both his achievements as a corrosion researcher and his services to the European corrosion community as follows:

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, especially in the field of electrolytic corrosion and corrosion protection by coatings, this award is conferred on Professor Fürbeth. However, the award not only underlines his outstanding scientific achievements, but also his positive and long-term commitment to the EFC.

This is particularly represented by his active involvement in a wide range of EFC activities, most notably as Chair of Working Party 14 Coatings since September 2012. As Chair of the EFC Scientific Committee from 2017 to 2022, he served in a leading role for the EFC during one of the most difficult times Europe has experienced in recent decades, helping to launch a new format, the virtual EUROCORR. Furthermore, he has contributed significantly to EFC conferences, in particular as (co-)organiser of EUROCORR 2022 in Berlin and AETOC 2017 in Billerbeck near Münster.

The DECHEMA Research Institute warmly congratulates Wolfram Fürbeth on this award and we are delighted with him for the great recognition of his many achievements.
