At its constituent meeting on 11 January 2023, the newly elected Board of GfKORR Gesellschaft für Korrosionsschutz e.V. unanimously elected Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfram Fürbeth, Team Leader Electrolytic Corrosion at the DECHEMA Research Institute, as the new Chairman of the Society's Board. He succeeds Prof. Dr. Ralf Feser from the University of Applied Sciences Südwestfalen in this office and is thus the fourth chairman in the history of the society, which has existed since 1995.
Through the scientific-technical exchange of experience as well as the promotion of research and further education, the causes of corrosion are to be determined in GfKORR in order to subsequently develop effective corrosion protection measures for all available materials. Its approximately 500 members are production and service companies from all economic sectors as well as research institutes, associations and private individuals who have an interest in corrosion and corrosion protection.
"Adapted corrosion protection measures are an indispensable building block in many future technologies for their technical feasibility. Therefore, in the coming years, it will be important to improve the visibility and perception of GfKORR as well as to provide a better home for the next generation in the world of corrosion", explains Wolfram Fürbeth, the new chairman of GfKORR Gesellschaft für Korrosionsschutz e.V..
