DFI Board Member Mathias Galetz was part of the successful delegation trip from 25 to 26 April 2023 to Paris, France, led by State Secretary Philipp Nimmermann from the Hessian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport and Housing (HMWEVW).
Together with Dr Mandy Pastohr (HMWEVW), Dr Christopf Schröder (HMWEVW), Rainer Waldschmidt (HTAI), Heike Müller-Sedlaczek (HMWEVW), Dr Michael Reckhard (WIBank) and Andreas Brumby (MaterialsValley) and Montgomery Wagner (Revoltech), the visit included STATION F, the world's largest campus for start-ups, and the global trade fair for composites and their applications, JEC World 2023.
STATION F is a showcase of start-up funding to support creative minds, and transfer ideas from science to industrial application. During the visit, numerous technical discussions were held and contacts were made with innovative start-ups.
At the JEC World 2023 trade fair, new collaborations also emerged for the DECHEMA Research Institute in the field of CMC ceramics. For their use under extreme temperature loads, innovative corrosion protection coatings (environmental barrier coatings, EBCs) are being developed at the DFI and applied to fibre-reinforced ceramics to ensure reliable protection against oxidation and high-temperature corrosion.
