Higher biogas yield, no complex CO2 separation, and excess electricity is used reasonably: All of this is the goal of MIKE, the BMBF project "Methanation of CO2 from biogas by microbial electrosynthesis", which was launched on 1 September 2016.
Project manager is Dr Dirk Holtmann at DECHEMA-Forschungsinstitut. An electro biotechnological procedure for CO2 conversion is to be developed in cooperation with ifn FTZ GmbH in Elsteraue, Infraserv GmbH & Co. Höchst KG, and Provadis School of International Management and Technology.
