2020-08-31 |

The foundation DECHEMA Research Institute (DFI) is expanding its management team as of 1 September 2020. Associate Prof. Dr.-Ing Mathias Galetz (40), who has been with DFI since 2010 and has been responsible for the Institute's ´research group "High-Temperature Materials" for more than 8 years, has been appointed as the new Executive Board member.

At the same time, Prof. Dr. Jens Schrader (54) was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board. From 1 September 2020, the business of the foundation will be jointly managed by both.

The materials scientist Mathias Galetz has headed the High-Temperature Materials Group at DFI since 2012 and habilitated at the University of Bayreuth in 2015. Since then he has been giving regular lectures there in the fields of corrosion, high-temperature corrosion and coating technologies. Galetz has been a member of the DFI Institute Management since 2017.

His research focuses on high temperature corrosion, new materials and life prediction for high temperature applications. At the same time, he and his team develop coatings and innovative concepts for protection against aggressive atmospheres.

With this step, the DECHEMA Research Institute is making its organization even more application-oriented. "By expanding our management structure, we are strengthening our hallmark of interdisciplinary cooperation within the institute and will in future devote ourselves even more intensively to technological innovations for energy transition and resource efficiency," comments Jens Schrader. "Particularly in the current situation, straightforward technology and knowledge transfer is needed more than ever for the rebound of our economy".
