State of Hesse supports the operation of the DFI with €1.5 million annually

The state of Hesse supports the DECHEMA Research Institute (DFI) with an annual operating subsidy of €1.5 million. This is intended to secure ongoing research activities in the long term and support the move to new laboratory and office premises in Bad Homburg. The DFI is one of the leading independent research institutions in the fields of chemical engineering and materials research.

Hesse's Minister of Economics Kaweh Mansoori explained: "By supporting the DECHEMA Research Institute, we are making a targeted investment in Hesse's innovative strength. Here, solutions are being developed that will help us to develop sustainable production processes, new materials and environmentally friendly technologies. The operating subsidy enables the institute to continue its research independently and in an application-oriented manner. This benefits not only science and industry, but the entire state of Hesse."

Mathias Galetz, Chairman of the Board of the DECHEMA Research Institute, said: ‘We would like to thank the state of Hesse for this important support. With the new laboratories in Bad Homburg and the financial security of our operating costs, we can make our research even more efficient and expand our cooperation with universities and industry partners. Our topics – from sustainable chemical processes to materials research for nuclear fusion – are central to the future viability of our state.’

Among other things, the DFI develops electrochemical processes for the energy transition, processes for sustainable raw material use and corrosion-resistant materials for industry. The research results flow directly into the development of market-ready technologies, thereby strengthening Hesse's innovation and competitiveness.

With its operating subsidy, Hesse is creating a strong foundation for excellent research – economically viable, socially relevant and ecologically sustainable.
