Researchers from DFI present hot topics on enzyme catalysis at “BioTrans 2019”

2019-07-12 |

The 14th international symposium on biocatalysis and biotransformations
(BioTrans 2019) which took place from 7th to 11th of July in Groningen (The Netherlands) has been attended by researchers working on enzyme catalysis at the DECHEMA Research Institute.

The conference is one of the most important meetings in the field of biocatalysis as it bridges the fields of chemistry and biology for both, academia and industry. It has been attended by more than 700 participants who presented their research more than 40 lectures and 500 posters.

One highlight of the conference was the amazing opening lecture “Innovation by evolution: bringing new chemistry to life“ held by the Noble Prize laureate in chemistry 2018 Prof. Frances Arnold (California Institute of Technology, USA).

The DFI research from the groups of industrial biotechnology and chemical technology has been represented by a talk of Markus Buchhaupt with the title “Expanding the isoprenoid building block repertoire with an IPP methyltransferase from Streptomyces monomycini” more.. as well as three posters on the topics „Unspecific Peroxygenases – from production to process” more... ,"Improving the in vivo production of EMCP-derived dicarboxylic acids by a variant of thioesterase YciA“ more... and "Wireless Light Emitters for Up-Scaling of Photoenzymatic Reactions" more... .
