Bioelektrochemische Syntheseverfahren

D. Holtmann, M. A. Rosenbaum, J. Schrader

Bioelectrochemical synthesis processes are currently emerging as promising interplay of classical electrochemical and biocatalytic synthesis. Thereby, biological (enzymatic or microbial) catalysts can greatly increase the catalyst and reaction spectrum for electrochemical processes. On the other hand, renewable electrical energy can provide a practical and cheap source of biological reducing equivalents for biosynthesis reactions. Here, we feature the state of the art and future potential of bioelectrochemical syntheses.
